The horror genre has always been a good opportunity for the film industry; among the most profitable films in cinema history we can find “The Blair witch project” or the recent “Saw” saga. It is a genre that gives the audience an adrenaline rush and makes them come back for more. It is a magic formula that attracts public from all ages and makes this kind of projects are good and solid investment.
Hollywood has always lead this genre from a commercial point of view, but Spain is coming closer since a few years ago and we have several national horror films that have done very well in the box-office worldwide.
However, Spanish horror films have been focused on paranormal elements. Not anymore. In a similar strategy to the recent French horror wave, the time has come for Spain to offer a return to more violent and raw movies. In a few months, the first slasher of the last years will be released on theaters. “XP3D” has been produced by Rodar y Rodar, the minds behind “The orphanage” and “Julia’s eyes”. A resurrection of this genre is expected during 2012.
“Day of blood” is our sure choice to fill the gap that is missing in the Spanish market. It fits in the slasher genre and it makes a strong entrance thanks to a serial killer that will not disappoint anyone. Its script, its low budget and a receptive market make this project an attractive opportunity.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- [ENG] Gonzalo López was born in Barcelona in 1977.
